Starting 5 – The Top 5 CSU-Pueblo storylines
1. The Pack dropped its season opener at Adams State University 62-61. CSU Pueblo trailed by as many as 14, but rallied to take the lead in the fourth quarter. The Grizzlies came away with a steal and score with 15 seconds remaining. That would be the deciding bucket.

2. The ThunderWolves lost their Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opener for the first time since the 2007-08. In that season the Pack would win the RMAC Tournament and advance to the NCAA Tournament. Last week's loss snapped a streak of 12 consecutive RMAC Opener victories for the Pack.

3. JaNaiya Davis (Jr., Waco, Texas) scored 21 points to lead the Pack in its season opener. The point guard sank 8-of-12 from the field and all four of her attempts from the line. Davis recorded one of the best all around seasons in program history in 2019-20. She ranked in the RMAC's top 10 in every category except 3-point percentage.

4. Through one game, Jazzy Hughes (Sr., Tucson, Ariz.) ranks second in NCAA D-II in blocks per game. Hughes swatted three shots against the Grizzlies last week. The Pack has led the RMAC in blocks per game every season since 2015-16. A ThunderWolf has led the RMAC in blocks in six of the last seven seasons.

5. Davis ranks third in D-II with 7.0 assists per game. She topped the RMAC with 5.2 assists per game last season. After just two seasons, Davis ranks ninth in program history with 251 career assists. She needs just 22 assists to overtake Sharla Dix for eighth place in school history.

Scouting Westminster:
2020-21 Record: 0-1 (0-1 RMAC). The Griffins lost their only game so far this season, a 71-68 defeat at the hands of Black Hills State University.

Series History: The Pack leads the all-time series against Westminster 4-3. The Griffins won the last two meetings including a 59-41 victory at Massari Arena a year ago. Sydni Williams (Sr., Little Rock, Ark.) scored 19 points and added 10 rebounds in last year's meeting against the Griffins.

Player to Watch: Sarah McGinley scored 23 points on 9-of-14 shooting in the Griffins opener. She also hauled in nine rebounds. The Pack held her to just seven points a year ago.

Scouting Colorado Mesa:
2020-21 Record: 3-1 (3-1 RMAC)

Series History: The Mavericks lead the all-time series 44-31. They won last year's meeting 59-41 in Grand Junction.

Player to Watch: Daniella Turner leads the Mavericks with 18.0 points per game. Turner also averages 7.5 rebounds per game. She scored 19 points against the Pack last season.
