Pack journeys west for faceoffs with Mountaineers & Mavericks

PUEBLO, Colo. (January 9, 2020) – Colorado State University-Pueblo Women's Basketball will embark on a road trip to face Western Colorado University Friday and No. 21 Colorado Mesa University Saturday. Both games start at 5:30 p.m.

Starting 5 – The Top 5 CSU-Pueblo storylines
1. CSU-Pueblo begins this road trip with a 3-9 record overall. They are 2-5 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. The ThunderWolves have actually been better away from home with a 3-2 record in road contests.  They have averaged 8.9 ppg more in road contests. The Pack is also holding opponents to 11.1 less ppg in road contests.

2. Khiya Adams (Sr., Falcon, Colo.)  averaged 19.0 points per game last weekend against Colorado Christian University and Regis University. Adams also had a career-high six steals against the Rangers. She scored a season-high 21 points against the Cougars Friday and now has three straight games in double figures.
3. JaNaiya Davis (So., Hewitt, Texas) netted a career-high 27 points against the Rangers. Davis leads the Pack with 15.3 points per game, seventh-most in the RMAC. Davis tops the RMAC with 5.1 assists per game. She ranks 25th in D-II in assists per game. Davis has averaged 18.4 ppg in road games, making 50.7 percent from the field away from Massari Arena.

4. Davis also leads the RMAC with 37.7 minutes per game. She ranks fifth in D-II in minutes per game. Defensively, Davis ranks third in the RMAC with 2.5 steals per game. She also has five or more rebounds in each of her last five games.

5. The Pack ranks No. 21 in D-II in blocks per game. The ThunderWolves swat an average of 4.7 shots per game. Sydni Williams (Jr., Little Rock, Ark.) ranks second in the RMAC with 1.4 blocks per game. CSU-Pueblo has led the RMAC in blocks every year since the start of the 2016-17 season.

Scouting Western Colorado:
2019-20 Record: 7-4 (5-2 RMAC)
Series History: The ThunderWolves lead the all-time series against the Cougars 45-28. Western Colorado won last year's meeting 71-62. This win by the Mountaineers snapped a nine-game winning streak for the Pack in the series.
Player to Watch: Samantha Coleman leads the Mountaineers with 9.6 ppg and 24 3-pointers made. Hannah Cooper averages 9.5 ppg.

Scouting Colorado Mesa:
2019-20 Record: 11-2 (7-0 RMAC)
Series History: The Mavericks lead the all-time series 43-31. They won last year's meeting 67-58 at Massari Arena. Williams had 18 points and 10 rebounds in that game.
Player to Watch: Kelsey Siemons anchors D-II's top defense with 2.0 blocks per game. Siemons also makes 51.5 percent of her 3-pointers., the second-highest percentage in D-II.
