Pack faces Cougars and Rangers at new look Massari Arena

PUEBLO, Colo. (January 2, 2020) –Colorado State University-Pueblo Women's Basketball  will take the court for the first time in 2020 when they host Colorado Christian University Friday and Regis University Saturday. Both games start at 5:30 p.m. at Massari Arena, which now features a new video board, sound system and LED scorer's tables.

PROMOTIONS
Friday night squads from Stuntz Academy will perform at halftime. Saturday is YMCA Night. All kids wearing their YMCA game jerseys will get a FREE general admission ticket, while all YMCA members with their ID card will earn a $2 discount on a general admission ticket. YMCA basketball teams will also be playing at the men's and women's halftime.  

Starting 5 – The Top 5 CSU-Pueblo storylines
1. The Pack beat New Mexico Highlands University 79-48 Dec. 18 in their last game before the holiday break. The win vaulted the Pack to 2-3 in RMAC play. They are now 3-7 overall. The 79 points marked a season high for the Pack.

2. Sydni Williams (Jr., Little Rock, Ark.) earned back-to-back RMAC Player of the Week honors. Williams claimed RMAC Offensive Player of the Week honors Dec. 23 after scoring a season-high 21 points vs. NMHU on 10-of-14 shooting. She snagged RMAC Defensive Player of the Week honors a week earlier.

3. The Pack dominated during the 2010s with a 208-93 record for the decade (.691). CSU-Pueblo finished the decade 162-57 in RMAC play. (.740). The Pack was the only RMAC team to compete in every RMAC tournament in the decade. The ThunderWolves won three RMAC Tournaments and two RMAC Regular Season Championships in the 2010s.

4. JaNaiya Davis (So., Hewitt, Texas) had 12 assists in the Pack's victory over the Cowgirls. This is the most by a ThunderWolf since 1989. Her seven steals in this game were the most by a Pack player since 2010. She ranks fourth in D-II with 37.56 minutes per game.

5. The ThunderWolves average 4.8 blocks per game. They rank 23rd in D-II in blocks per game. Williams averages 1.5 blocks per game, second-most in the RMAC. Davis ranks seventh in the RMAC with 0.9 blocks per game.  Williams and Davis have combined for more blocks than both CCU and Regis' entire teams.

Scouting CCU:
2019-20 Record: 3-8 (3-2 RMAC)
Series History: The ThunderWolves lead the all-time series against the Cougars 27-19. The Pack has won the last seven meetings. They beat the Cougars 80-67 Jan. 4, 2020.
Player to Watch: Sam Nunez has averaged 13.9 points per game. She is also the Cougars' best 3-point shooter, with 17 treys on the season.

Scouting Regis:
2019-20 Record: 3-8 (1-4RMAC)
Series History: The ThunderWolves lead the all-time series against the Cougars 27-19. Regis leads the all-time series 37-24, but CSU-Pueblo has won each of the last four games between the two squads. The Pack rallied from a 15 point deficit in the second half to beat the Rangers 68-63 in overtime of a nonconference meeting Nov. 16.
Player to Watch: Whitney Jacob averages a team-best 14.2 points per game. She ranks second in the RMAC with 9.3 rebounds per game. The Pack held Jacob in check during the first meeting, limiting her to just one point before she fouled out.
