PUEBLO, Colo. (September 3, 2019) – Former Colorado State University-Pueblo Baseball Pitcher,
Beau Brieske has been promoted to the Lakeland Flying Tigers of the Florida State League.
Drafted in the 27th round of June's MLB Amateur Player Draft, Brieske (Chandler, Ariz.) began his career with the Gulf Coast League Tigers East. During his Rookie League tenure, Brieske went 3-1 with a 3.12 ERA in 10 games.
Brieske recorded two saves in three chances. The 2019 First Team All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference selection struck out 28 batters in 17.1 innings of work with the GCL Tigers. He held opponents to just a .183 batting average and a 1.15 WHIP.
Thanks to his dominance with the GCL Tigers, Brieske was promoted to Lakeland, the Detroit Tigers, Class A Advanced affiliate. Brieske surrendered a run in three innings of work in his Lakeland debut, holding the Jupiter Hammerheads to two hits and a walk. He struck out three more batters.
In his lone season with the Pack, Brieske led the RMAC with 116 strikeouts in 79.2 innings. Brieske's 116 K's ranks as the second-highest total in program history and the most since 1969.
On March 15, Brieske struck out 15 batters against Regis University, the most by any RMAC pitcher in a single-game during the 2019 season. Brieske ranked 13th in D-II in both strikeouts and K's per nine innings.
