Pack defensive battle results in draw at Christian

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (September 29, 2019) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo women's soccer team defense stepped up in a big way Sunday, battling Colorado Christian to a scoreless match on a windy day on the pitch.

CSU-Pueblo finished the match with eleven shots and had four corner kicks earned.

The Pack's Litzy Serna (Jr., West Jordan, UT) and Madison Jepperson (Jr., Cottonwood Heights, UT) led the team with two shots each.

CSU-Pueblo opened the match and had two good looks at the net in chances created by Jepperson and Justine Martinez (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.). Both attempts had the CCU goalkeeper on the ground to make the saves.

At halftime, the ThunderWolves led 5-4 in shots with two landing on frame.

Playing in their first extra time game of the season, CSU-Pueblo kept the pressure and managed four shots in two overtime periods.

Pack goalkeeper Rylie Martin (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) made four saves and faced 13 shots by CCU.

With the tie, the ThunderWolves (2-5-1, 1-2-1 RMAC) earn one conference point and will return home next week and begin a three-game homestand starting Sunday, Oct. 6 against New Mexico Highlands. Kickoff against the Cowgirls is slated for a 12 p.m. kickoff at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
