Pack looks to sustain momentum in South Dakota

PUEBLO, Colo. (September 25, 2019) – The Colorado State University-Pueblo Volleyball team will look to keep their momentum going when they travel north to face Black Hills State University Friday at 7 p.m. and South Dakota School of Mines Saturday at 1 p.m.

Pack Notes:
The ThunderWolves shocked Colorado Mesa University with a five set win Saturday at Massari Arena. CSU-Pueblo finished with 19 blocks, one shy of a school record. This was their first win over the Mavericks since 2013. In three RMAC matches this season, the Pack is the only team to take a set off the Mavericks, let alone beat them.

CSU-Pueblo stands 1-1 in RMAC play and 3-7 overall. The Pack posted a .303 hitting percentage, against the Mavericks, the highest hitting percentage by a RMAC team in a five set match this season.

The ThunderWolves now rank third in the RMAC with 2.06 blocks per set. They are also the third least blocked team in the RMAC with opponents averaging just 1.59 blocks per set against the Pack.

Diamond'Nique Young (Fr., Fresno, Calif.) had 10 blocks in the Pack's win over the Mavericks with three solo blocks and seven blocks assists. Young ranks sixth in the RMAC with 1.12 blocks per set. She earned her first career double-double with 12 kills in the win over the Mavericks.  

Jazzy Espinoza (So., Cheyenne, Wyo.) ranks 10th in the RMAC with 0.92 blocks per game. Espinoza just missed a double-double against the Mavericks with 10 kills and nine blocks. She hit .500 in the match and did not commit an error.

Brooke Schilling (Jr., Platteville, Colo.) had a double-double in both of the Pack's matches last weekend. Schilling knocked down 19 kills and had 16 digs against Western Colorado University last Friday. She had 14 kills and 11 digs in the win over the Mavericks. She leads the Pack with 2.39 kills per set.

Maddy Wisniewski (Jr., Highlands Ranch, Colo.) leads Pack regulars with a .264 hitting percentage. Wisniewski had five kills in the fifth set of the Pack's win over the Mavericks.
