GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (September 22, 2019) - Colorado State University-Pueblo men's soccer dropped its first match in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play Sunday, 1-0 on the road at Colorado Mesa University at Walker Field in Grand Junction, Colo.
In the match, CSU-Pueblo outshot CMU by a 17-14 mark and the Pack also finished ahead in corners, 6-4.
Freshman
Vinzent Zingel (Aachen, Germany) led all players with seven shot attempts and three landing on frame.Â
Starting the match, CSU-Pueblo launched three shots in the first eight minutes before Mesa hit their first shot at the net.
At halftime, both teams recorded seven shots each and CSU-Pueblo led 3-1 in corner kicks.
For majority of the match, the teams exchanged possession and each created several chances to score.
CMU converted the lone goal of the match in the 76' when they drove the ball down field and shooting the ball low and to the right inside the net.
The Pack's
Dominik Huetgens (So., Halstenbek, Germany) and
Marvin Zajonz (Jr., Reutlingen, Germany) each recorded two shots in the match.
Pack goalkeeper
Tyler Harvey (Sr., Henderson, Nev.) made two saves and faced 14 shots by the Mavericks.
CSU-Pueblo (1-5-0, 1-1-0 RMAC) stays on the road next week and will play Friday at South Dakota Mines and Sunday at Colorado School of Mines.
