Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Pack balanced attack not enough against No. 21 Rogers State

CLAREMORE, Okla. (September 14, 2019) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo men's soccer team was shutout in their final nonconference before starting RMAC play, 2-0 at No. 21 Rogers State.

Despite the Pack outshooting the Hillcats by an 11-8 clip in the match, Rogers State used to scores in the second half to come away with the victory.

Starting the match, the ThunderWolves played as a cohesive unit and found several good looks at the net.

Vinzent Zingel (Fr., Aachen, Germany) led the team with three shots in the game. Zingel's first look came at the nine minute mark that caused the Hillcats goalkeeper to drop to the ground and make the quick save.

By halftime, the ThunderWolves held a 6-2 shots lead and both teams earned one corner kick each.

Rogers State scored the first goal in the 56' on a shot that sailed just below the crossbar in to the back of the net.

The Pack energy did not relinquish however, they continued to fire off shot attempts and caused the Rogers defense to be put on their heels.

The score went unchanged until the 85' when the Hillcats extended their lead with little time left for the ThunderWolves.

Facing eight shots in the match, Pack goalkeeper Tyler Harvey (Sr., Henderson, Nev.) made three saves while in the net.

CSU-Pueblo (0-4) returns home next week and will begin Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play Friday against Adams State. Kickoff is set for 4:30 PM at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.

At halftime, CSU-Pueblo Athletics will recognize the student-athletes that achieved a 3.00 Grade-Point Average or higher for the Spring 2019 semester.
