ThunderWolves open home season Thursday with Concordia-St. Paul

PUEBLO, Colo. (March 6, 2019) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo women's lacrosse team will open the home portion of its season March 7 when the ThunderWolves host Concordia-St. Paul beginning at 4 p.m. at the Art and Lorraine Gonzales Stadium. 

The Pack (0-2) started the season against a pair of nationally-ranked opponents. CSU-Pueblo fell to then-No. 22 Colorado Mesa University 15-8 on Feb. 16 and lost to then-No. 8 Regis University 15-5 on Feb. 20. CSU-Pueblo won the second half 6-3 against CMU and led RU 5-4 late in the first half, but couldn't put a full 60 minutes together in either contest. 

Junior Elyse Ingram (M, San Jose, Calif.) leads the team with five points, which includes a team-best four goals. She also leads the team in caused turnovers with four. Three other players have three points this season and a total of seven different players have recorded a point. Senior Taylor Christensen (M, Colorado Springs, Colo.) leads the team with seven draw controls and adds two points, including a goal. Defensively, Britney Smith (Jr., Oregon City, Ore.) owns a team-best five ground balls with two caused turnovers. 

Concordia-St. Paul, located in St. Paul, Minnesota, competes in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and enters with a 2-1 record, all against Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference members. The Golden Bears opened their season with a 12-11 victory at Rockhurst University. CSP needed a goal with just 40 seconds left to secure the win. The Golden Bears lost to then-No. 4 Lindenwood University 18-2 before coming and playing in Pueblo Tuesday against Adams State University. CSP defeated the Grizzlies 25-1. 

Thursday's game begins a two-game homestand for the Pack, as they host Notre Dame College (Ohio) Monday, March 11 at 2 p.m. CSU-Pueblo has eight home games this season.
