Davis nets five more goals in Pack’s first setback

WINTER PARK, Fla.  (March 17, 2019) – Colorado State University – Pueblo Men's Lacrosse's unbeaten run ended at three games as the Pack fell to Rollins College 22-8 Sunday at Cahall-Sandspur Field. 
 
Taylor Davis (Sr., Littleton, Colo.) scored five of the Pack's eight goals. Davis also handed out an assist. He now has at least six points in each of his last three games. Davis scored his five goals on six shots. He leads the RMAC with 5.25 goals per game.
 
Anthony Ferrie (Sr., Littleton, Colo.) netted two goals. He collected two ground balls.
 
Tommy Vassallo (Jr., Sarasota, Fla.) celebrated his homecoming with a goal and an assist. Weston Bartgis (Sr., El Cajon, Calif.) added an assist.
 
Caleb Cole (Fr., Houston, Texas) dished out two assists. Cole snagged three ground balls.
 
Michael DeMaio (So., Gambrills, Md.) secured a team-high six ground balls. The Tars held a 57-25 advantage in ground balls.
 
Rollins scored the game's first two goals. Strikes form Davis and Ferrie tied the game at two. The Tars rattled off three consecutive goals to make it 5-2. With 27 seconds left in the first quarter, Ferrie fired in his second goal of the game to cut the Tars lead to 5-3 after one.
 
The second quarter belonged to the Tars. They outscored the Pack 7-1 in the second to make it 12-4 at the half. Davis netted the Pack's lone goal of the second quarter on a man up opportunity.
 
The Pack was held scoreless in the third period as the Tars scored 11 consecutive goals between the second and fourth quarters to make it 20-4.
 
In the fourth quarter, the Pack found the back of the net four times, but it was not enough. Rollins rolled to a 22-8 win.
 
Despite the loss, the Pack still stands 3-1 on the season. Rollins improved to 6-1. The Pack will look to get back on track Tuesday when they face Florida Southern University on the road at 5 p.m. (MTN).
