Fourth quarter run leads Mines past Pack Women

Box Score GOLDEN, Colo. (February 16, 2019) – Colorado State University-Pueblo Women's Basketball lost to Colorado School of Mines 70-54 Saturday at Lockridge Arena.
 
Lauren Heyn (Sr., Penryn, Calif.) swatted a season-high five shots. With her five blocks, Heyn also scored 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting. She finished with eight rebounds.
 
Jennah Knafelc (Sr., Highlands Ranch, Colo.) led the Pack with 14 points. Khiya Adams (Jr., Falcon, Colo.) tacked on 10 points.
 
JaNaiya Davis (Fr., Hewitt, Texas) followed her historic triple-double with eight points and five assists. Nadirah Oakman (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) added eight points.
 
The first quarter stayed close as the two teams traded the lead. Mines led 18-14 after one thanks to a 5-0 run that ended the frame.
 
In the second quarter, the Pack fell behind by as many as 10. A Knafelc 3-pointer put the Pack back within seven at the break, 33-26.
 
The Pack used a 9-2 run to climb back within two midway through the third.  Mines reopened the lead to seven, but the Pack trimmed the Oredigger edge to 48-44 after three. In the fourth quarter, the Orediggers went on a 12-0 run that helped them to a 70-54 win.
 
CSU-Pueblo fell to 14-11 overall. They are 12-7 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. The Orediggers improved to 16-8 (13-6 RMAC).
 
The Pack will return home for the final three games of the regular season. They will host Chadron State College Friday Feb. 22 at 5:30 p.m.
 
Friday's game will be Faculty & Staff Appreciation Night. All CSU-Pueblo Faculty and Staff will received free tickets to Friday's game and also get free tickets for up to four friends or family members.
