ThunderWolves tip off RMAC play at Adams & Fort Lewis

PUEBLO, Colo. (December 5, 2019) – Colorado State University-Pueblo Women's Basketball opens Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play Friday when the Pack visits Adam State University. The ThunderWolves will also travel to Fort Lewis College Saturday. Both games start at 5:30 p.m.

Starting 5 – The Top 5 CSU-Pueblo storylines
1. The Pack enters RMAC play 1-4 after running into regionally ranked opponents Eastern New Mexico University and West Texas A&M University. The Pack's lone non-conference win came against RMAC foe Regis University.

2. JaNaiya Davis (So., Hewitt, Texas) leads the Pack with 15.2 points per game. Davis ranks sixth in the RMAC in points per game. Defensively, Davis ranks second in the RMAC with 1.4 blocks per game. Her 2.2 steals per game stands third.

3. The Pack leads the RMAC with 5.60 blocks per game, almost two blocks more than any other RMAC team. CSU-Pueblo ranks 10th in D-II in blocks per game. Three ThunderWolves rank in the top 10 in blocks per game: Davis (1.4), Jade Adams (1.2), Sydni Williams (1.0). Five ThunderWolves have more blocks individually than the Grizzlies entire team combined.

4.  Davis, the Pack's point guard leads D-II in minutes per game. She has averaged 39.3 minutes per game. Davis has played every minute in three of the Pack's five games this season. She has sat just one minute in the last three games.  

5. Slow starts have hindered the Pack. They have been outscored by over 10 points per game in the opening quarter. The Pack's best quarter has been the third quarter where they have outscored opponents 87-78.

Scouting Adams State:
2019-20 Record: 0-6 (0-0 RMAC)
Series History: The Pack leads the all-time series 56-27. CSU-Pueblo has beaten the Grizzlies 16 straight times. This includes a 65-64 win last year at Massari Arena.
Player to Watch: Zakiya Beckles leads the Grizzlies with 10.0 points per game. She also has 1.8 steals per game.

Scouting Fort Lewis:
2019-20 Record: 4-1 (0-0 RMAC)
Series History: The Pack leads the all-time series 48-36. CSU-Pueblo has won the last 12 meetings against the Skyhawks. The Pack has won these meetings by an average of 11.25 points per victory. They beat the Skyhawks 70-53 last season.
Player to Watch: Jordan Vasquez has posted 11.8 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game. Vasquez has made 57.1 percent from the field.
