Pack celebrates Senior Day with sweep of NMHU

PUEBLO, Colo. (November 15, 2019) – In their final home match of the season, Colorado State University –Pueblo Volleyball sent its seniors off in style with a 3-0 (25-23, 25, 18, 25-22) victory over New Mexico Highlands University in the Pack's home finale Friday at Massari Arena.
 
With the win, the Pack officially wrapped up the No. 6 seed in the upcoming Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament. CSU-Pueblo earned their highest seed in the RMAC Tournament since 2014. At 14-13 the Pack has finished above .500 for the first time since 2014. The Pack's 11-7 RMAC record is also their best in five years.
 
On her senior night, Sarah Vang (Parker, Colo.) knocked down 15 kills in just three sets. She hit .333 for the match. Vang also totaled eight digs.
 
Page Heller (Sr., Vancouver, Wash.) led the Pack with 10 digs on her Senior Night. Heller now owns sole possession of ninth place in program history with 970 digs.
 
Senior, Kelsey Bell (Los Lunas, N.M.) totaled 16 assists and two kills. Grace Jansen (Fr., South Jordan, Utah) handed out a team-high 17 assists. She added eight digs.
 
Diamond'Nique Young (Fr., Fresno, Calif.) rejected a team-high four blocks. Young hit .400 with five kills. Jazzy Espinoza (So., Cheyenne, Wyo.) had six kills and three blocks, while hitting .308.
 
The Pack built an 18-14 lead in a close first set. The Cowgirls answered with a 5-0 run that gave them the lead. Both teams continued to trade points leading to a 23-23 tie. The Pack capitalized with a service error and a Brooke Schilling (Jr., Platteville, Colo.)  kill to clinch the first set 25-23. Vang had six kills in the first set.
 
A 4-0 run, helped the Pack take a 19-13 lead in the second. After the Cowgirls closed within three at 21-18, the ThunderWolves responded. CSU-Pueblo scored the final four points of the set to take a 2-0 set lead.
 
The Cowgirls kept pace with the Pack in the third until CSU-Pueblo unleashed a 6-1 run that made it 20-13. NMHU closed within one at 23-22. The Pack once again closed out the set with the final two points to complete the sweep.
 
As the No. 6 seed, the Pack will now face Dixie State University Tuesday. The Pack will travel to St. George, Utah for a 7 p.m. showdown with the Trailblazers.
