ThunderWolves run past Black Hills 3-0

PUEBLO, Colo. (October 11, 2019) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo women's soccer team shutout its third opponent in a row after defeating Black Hills State University, 3-0 Friday at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.

The Pack received scores from Justine Martinez (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.), Summer Hatch (So., Elizabeth, Colo.), and Cara Siegel (Jr., Pueblo, Colo.).

CSU-Pueblo outshot the Yellow Jackets by a 20-2 clip in the match and held a 5-1 advantage on corner kicks.

Half of the shots from the ThunderWolves landed on frame. The Pack's Litzy Serna (Jr., West Jordan, UT) led all players with five shots, while Hatch and Madison Jepperson (Jr., Cottonwood Heights, UT) ended with four shots each.

The Pack got on the board early after taking possession deep in BHSU territory and a ball fed inside the box by Siegel was fed inside the box and allowed Martinez to toe-tap the ball above the diving goalkeeper.

CSU-Pueblo added back-to-back goals in a one and half minute span in the 41'. Siegel again drove the ball down the sideline and booted a cross to the far post that Hatch was able to get a knee on for the score.

Moments later, Erin Gibson (So., Westminster, Colo.) earned an assist when she passed on ahead to Siegel who hit a one-timer to the far post, scoring her first goal of the season.

Pack goalkeeper Rylie Martin (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) made one save and stood tall for majority of the match as the defense did their part in avoiding any threat.

CSU-Pueblo (4-5-1, 3-2-1 RMAC) finish the weekend Sunday against Regis. Kickoff against the Rangers is set for 2:30 p.m. following the men's game at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
