PUEBLO, Colo. (January 11, 2018) – Colorado State University-Pueblo Women's Basketball could not keep up with Western Colorado University as the Pack fell to the Mountaineers 71-62 Friday night at Massari Arena.

The loss was the Pack's first defeat in a regular season Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game at Massari Arena in almost three years. Their last home loss to a RMAC team during the regular season came Feb. 20, 2016 against Colorado School of Mines. They had won their last 26 home regular season RMAC games at Massari Arena.

Kansas Watts (Fr., Houston, Texas) picked up her first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Watts made 3-of-6 from the field and 4-of-6 at the line. She also snagged five offensive rebounds. She did not commit a single turnover.

Sydni Williams (So., Little Rock, Ark.) scored 14 points in her best game of RMAC play. Williams made 5-of-7 from the field and drained 4-of-5 from the stripe. She finished with seven points.

Jennah Knafelc (Sr., Highlands Ranch, Colo.) led the Pack with 16 points. Knafelc hauled in seven rebounds. She also swatted a team-high with two blocks. She sank 6-of-7 from the line and 4-of-9 from the field.

Naomi Torgerson (Jr., Anoka, Minn.) snagged three steals. She totaled 12 points on 5-of-7 from the field with 2-of-4 from downtown. Torgerson has at least three steals in each of her last three games.

The Pack led 7-4 in the early going.  After a 5-0 run from the Mountaineers, the Pack tied the game at nine with a bucket from Watts. Western Colorado would rattle off the next 10 points to make it 19-9. They would keep that 10-point lead and head into the second quarter up 24-14.

CSU-Pueblo clawed back within six in the second quarter. The Mountaineers finished the quarter on a 12-2 run that put them up 43-26 heading into the second half.

The Pack won the third quarter 16-14. They brought it back within single digits in the fourth, but could not overcome the deficit as they fell 71-62.

After the setback to the Mountaineers, the Pack stands 8-6 overall with a 6-2 record in RMAC play. The Mountaineers own a 9-3 (5-3 RMAC) record.

The ThunderWolves will hope to start another home winning streak Saturday when they face Colorado Mesa University. The Pack and Mavericks will tip off at 5:30 p.m.
