Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Pack fall to Skyhawks 73-61

PUEBLO, Colo. (Dec. 8, 2018) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo men's basketball team fell 73-61 to Fort Lewis College in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference contest at Massari Arena Saturday.

The ThunderWolves (2-7, 0-3 RMAC) outshot the Skyhawks (5-3, 1-2 RMAC) 44.7 to 42.4 percent and won the rebounding battle 34-32, but committed 21 turnovers, which equated to 20 points for the guest. The Pack were able to force 15 FLC turnovers, but produce just six points. Fort Lewis had its leading scorer in foul trouble early and he only played seven minutes, but the bench stepped up and totaled 43 points

Redshirt-junior Donovan Oldham (Colorado Springs, Colo.) was again the leading scorer with 19 points on 5-of-9 (55.6%) shooting from the field with two 3-pointers and a 7-of-10 effort from the free throw line. He also added a team-high seven rebounds.

The only other CSU-Pueblo player who scored in double figures was junior center Harvey Barr (Southampton, England, UK). In 10 minutes off the bench he totaled 10 points with four rebounds.

The ThunderWolves were on the winning end of a slow start to the game for both squads, as they led 16-9 with 12:11 remaining in the opening half after a BJ Hardy (R-So.,G, Colorado Springs, Colo.) 3-pointer. FLC then put together an 11-2 run during the next four minutes of play to take its first lead of the game, 20-18.

Neither team held a lead larger than one possession until the final minute when the ThunderWolves got back-to-back buckets from freshman center Jonathan Hall (Sudbury, Suffolk, England) to take a 34-28 lead with 27 seconds left. The Skyhawks would score on their final possession, but the Pack owned a 34-30 lead at the break.

Just like the night before, CSU-Pueblo owned a small advantage at the half and then built a larger lead during the early goings of the second frame, as the Pack were ahead 42-35 with 15:26 showing on the game clock. But similar to Friday's game, the ThunderWolves suffered from a lull in scoring and the other team capitalized, as the Skyhawks tied the game 46-46 with 10:11 left in the game.

Tied 49-49, FLC posted a 13-3 run and would lead 62-52 with 5:32 remaining in regulation. CSU-Pueblo would get within six before suffering the 12-point loss.

The ThunderWolves hit the road Dec. 14-15 before the holiday break and will head to Utah to battle Westminster College Friday and Dixie State University Saturday. Both contests are set for 7:30 p.m.
