ST. GEORGE, UTAH (December 15, 2018) - Colorado State University-Pueblo Men's Basketball knocked off Dixie State University 77-66 Saturday at Burns Arena to earn their first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference win of the season.
The Pack outrebounded the Trailblazers 44-27. They led for over 37 minutes of the game.
Donovan Oldham (R-Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) earned his first double-double of the season. Oldham scored 23 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field and 4-of-4 shooting from the charity stripe. He also hauled in a season-high 10 rebounds.
Cory Seng (So., Highlands Ranch, Colo.) picked up his second double-double in as many nights. Seng scored 10 points and added 10 rebounds. All 10 of Seng's points came in the second half. He went 6-of-8 at the line.
Harvey Barr (Jr., Southampton, England, UK) narrowly missed a double-double of his own. Barr scored nine points on 4-of-7 shooting. He added a team-high 11 rebounds. Barr set a career-high with five blocks.
Tyson Gilbert (Fr., Highlands Ranch, Colo.) tacked on 14 points including 7-of-10 shooting from the line. He added four assists.
Senior
Gavin Liggett (Limon, Colo.) totaled 13 points. Liggett made 3-of-7 from downtown and came away with two steals.
A 7-0 run by the Pack gave them an 11-5 lead just over six minutes into the game. Dixie State reclaimed the lead 17-16 with 6:33 left in the half. The Pack responded with a 13-2 run that put their advantage at double digits. The Trailblazers cut the Pack's lead to 31-28 at halftime.
The Pack began the second half with a 9-2 run that made it a 10-point game once again. Dixie State retaliated with a 14-3 run of its own to jump in front 44-43. The ThunderWolves used a 9-2 swing of their own to vault back in front. This time they would not give it up as the rolled to a 77-66 victory.
CSU-Pueblo owns a 3-8 record at the holiday break. They are 1-4 in RMAC play. The ThunderWolves will take a holiday break before returning to competition against Colorado Christian University Friday Jan. 4.
