PUEBLO, Colo. (November 8, 2018) – Colorado State University-Pueblo Women's Basketball will begin its 2018-19 season at the South Central Region Challenge held at the Rip Griffin Center in Lubbock, Texas. The Pack will face Texas A&M University Commerce Friday at 10 a.m. MT and battle the host institution Lubbock Christian University Saturday at 6 p.m. MT.

The Starting 5: Five Pack Storylines
1. The Pack went 25-7 in Head Coach Curtis Loyd's first season. CSU-Pueblo won both the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships in 2017-18 with a 20-2 record in RMAC play. This was the first time the Pack has swept both RMAC Championships.
2. Only four student-athletes return from last year's RMAC Championship team. Jade Adams, Khiya Adams, Lauren Heyn, and Jennah Knafelc are all back for the Pack. Nine newcomers are expected to make their Pack debuts this season.
3. Heyn (Sr., Penryn, Calif.) earned Second Team All-RMAC accolades in 2017-18. This was Heyn's first career all-conference selection. She posted a career-best 9.1 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game. Heyn was named Preseason All-RMAC.
4. This trip to Lubbock will bring the Pack back to the site of last year's regional tournament, where the ThunderWolves were eliminated by Metro State University of Denver. The Pack has advanced to the NCAA Tournament in each of the last five seasons and in nine of the last 11 years.
5. Nadirah Oakman (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) earned First Team All-America honors from the NJCAA last season. Oakman averaged 18.3 points per game. She made 115 3-pointers last season. Transfer, Naomi Torgerson (Jr., Anoka, Minn.) earned All-North Sun Athletic Association last season with 13.1 points per game.
Scouting Texas A&M Commerce
- The Lions finished the 2017-18 season with an 18-12 record. They held a 13-7 mark in Lone Star Conference play and advanced to the LSC Tournament Semifinals.
- CSU-Pueblo leads the all-time series with the Lions 4-0. The Pack won last year's game 55-52 in Commerce, Texas.
- Like the Pack, the Lions welcome a large number of new faces, with 12 newcomers on this year's roster. Princess Davis returns after earning Third Team All-LSC accolades last year.
Scouting Lubbock Christian
-The Chaps won the South Central Regional and the Heartland Championships last season. They went 31-2 a season ago before losing to eventual champion Central Missouri University in the Elite Eight.
- Lubbock Christian enters the season ranked 10th in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Preseason Poll. They are picked to win the Heartland Conference for the second year in a row.
- The Chaps return 11 players from last year's team. Maddi Chitsey was named Preseason All-Heartland Conference. She averaged 11.5 points per game last season.
- The Pack and Lubbock Christian have split their previous eight meetings, 4-4. The Chaps won last year's matchup 57-52.
