Heller sets single-season dig record in Pack loss

LAS VEGAS, N.M. (November 2, 2018) -  Page Heller broke Colorado State University-Pueblo Volleyball's single-season dig record, but the Pack dropped their final match of the season to New Mexico Highlands University 3-1 (25-16, 18-25, 21-25, 16-25).

Heller (Jr., Vancouver, Wash.) collected 30 digs to finish the season with 522 digs.  Her 522 digs broke Katie Burnett's rally-scoring era record of 516 digs set two years ago.

Heller finished the season with 5.38 digs per set, also a program-record. After coming to CSU-Pueblo as a setter, Heller had five matches with 30 or more digs in her first season as the team's Libero.

Mallorie Post (So., Federa; Way, Wash.) hit a season-high .440 for the match. Post put away 11 kills. She also had four blocks, including one solo block.

Maddy Wisniewski (So., Highlands Ranch, Colo.) set a season-high with 10 kills. Wisniewski hit .310 for the match. She added two aces and two blocks.

Setter, Grace Hern (Fr., Omaha, Neb.) handed out 45 assists. She completed her 12th double-double of the season with 11 digs. Hern also put down an ace.

Brooke Schilling (So., Parker, Colo.) led the Pack with 12 kills. She narrowly missed a double-double with nine digs. Schilling tacked on two aces. With 25 aces, she entered the top-10 on the Pack's single-season ace list. Schilling also finished the year with 300 kills.

The Pack took control of set one from the opening serve, scoring the first three points of the match. A 9-1 Pack run made it 14-4. They rolled to a 25-16 win in the first frame.

Unfortunately for the Pack they would drop the final three sets. The Cowgirls led by as many as nine in the second set on their way to a 25-18 set win.

In set three, the two teams were tied at until the Cowgirls unleashed an 8-1 run. The Pack came back within three, but they dropped set three 25-21.

A 6-0 run launched the Cowgirls to a 12-6 lead in set four. The Pack would never get closer than four as the ThunderWolves fell in their final set of the year 25-16.

The Pack finished the 2018 season 5-22. They went 3-15 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. NMHU completed the season 9-17 (7-11 RMAC).
