Box Score CANYON, Texas (November 23, 2018) – Colorado State University-Pueblo Women's Basketball could not overcome 21 turnovers as the Pack fell to Eastern New Mexico University 58-54 in their opening game in the Pak-A-Sak Thanksgiving Classic at the First United Bank Center.
Jennah Knafelc (Sr., Highlands Ranch, Colo.) totaled 12 points. Knafelc knocked down 3-of-9 from beyond the arc. She had a career-best seven assists. The senior also recorded four steals.
JaNaiya Davis (Fr., Hewitt, Texas) scored a team-best 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field. Davis had two steals and two assists.
Khiya Adams (Jr., Falcon, Colo.) hauled in a career-high 11 rebounds. Adams now has 10 or more rebounds in each of her last three games. She finished with seven points.
Sydni Williams (So., Little Rock, Ark.) recorded nine rebounds and five points. Williams scored all five of her points at the line, where she went 5-for-6. She had two blocks for the second consecutive game.
An 8-0 run gave the Greyhounds a 12-4 lead early. Down as many as nine in the first quarter, the Pack cut ENMU's lead to 21-16 after one.
The Pack clawed back within three early in the second quarter. ENMU scored six of the next eight points to push their lead back to seven at 27-20. They led 29-23 at the break.
Midway through the third quarter, the Pack finally reclaimed the lead at 32-31 thanks a to a 9-2 run. The Greyhounds scored the final seven points of the third to hold a 42-36 lead after three.
In the fourth quarter, the Greyhounds pushed their lead to double digits. A 3-pointer by Davis closed the Pack back within three with eight seconds left. However, the Greyhounds hit a final free throw to clinch a 58-54 win.
CSU-Pueblo now owns a 2-3 record in 2018-19. The Pack will try to pull off an upset on day two of the Pak-A-Sak Thanksgiving Classic when they face No. 7 West Texas A&M University at 3 p.m.
