Knafelc clinches Pack win with dagger 3-pointer

Box Score PUEBLO, Colo. (November 17, 2018) – A 3-pointer by Jennah Knafelc led Colorado State University-Pueblo Women's Basketball to a 68-64 win over the University of Montana Western Saturday at Massari Arena.
 
Knafelc (Sr., Highlands Ranch, Colo.) scored a career-high 22 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field. She went 4-for-7 from downtown including a 3-pointer that gave the Pack the lead with 14 seconds remaining.
 
Khiya Adams (Jr., Falcon, Colo.) earned her first career double-double. She scored a career-high 18 points and hauled in 10 rebounds. Adams went 5-of-9 from the field. She also sank 8-of-9 at the charity stripe including two that put the game out of reach.
 
Sydni Williams (So., Little Rock, Ark.) rejected two Bulldog shots. Williams added six points and seven rebounds.
 
The Pack led by as many as six in the first quarter, but the Bulldogs pulled back within two at the end of the opening stanza, 16-14.  In the second quarter, the Pack fell behind 31-29, but back-to-back buckets from Nadirah Oakman (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Knafelc put the Pack in front 33-31 at halftime.
 
CSU-Pueblo came out on fire in the second half, scoring the first eight points to make it 41-31. A Knafelc 3-pointer gave the Pack its biggest lead of the night at 13. 49-36. They led 49-40 entering the fourth quarter.
 
The Bulldogs chipped away at the Pack's lead and used a 10-2 run to jump in front 62-60. Down 64-63 with 14 seconds left and the shot clock about to expire, Knafelc banked in a highly contested 3-pointer to put the Pack in front 66-64.
 
After the Bulldogs missed their shot, Adams clinched the win with a pair of free throws that made it 68-64. She scored 14 points in the second half.
 
The win gave the Pack a measure of revenge as the two teams split their weekend series. CSU-Pueblo now stands 2-2 on the young season. Montana Western suffered its first loss of the year. The Bulldogs are now 4-1.
 
CSU-Pueblo will wrap up its non-conference slate when they play Eastern New Mexico University and West Texas A&M University in the WT Thanksgiving Classic starting Friday at 11 a.m.
