New look Pack WBB makes home debut in Al Kaly Shrine Classic

PUEBLO, Colo. (November 15, 2018) – Colorado State University-Pueblo Women's Basketball will take the court at Massari Arena Friday for the first time since they cut down the nets on their home court as Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament Champions last March. The Pack will host Montana Western both Friday and Saturday at 5 p.m. as part of the 35th annual Al Kaly Shrine Classic.

The Starting 5 – the top five Pack storylines
1. With only returning starter, this weekend's games will give fans their first chance to see the Pack's nine active newcomers for the first time in a game. The Pack went 1-1 in its first weekend, picking up a 77-68 overtime win over Texas A&M University Commerce, before losing to No. 10 Lubbock Christian University 78-74.
2. JaNaiya Davis (Fr., Hewitt, Texas) averaged 17.5 points per game in her first two games. She is tied for fourth in the RMAC in scoring and ranks fifth among D-II freshman. Davis stands fifth in the RMAC with a 55.6 shooting percentage.
3. The Pack made 48.3 percent of their shots from the field in their opening weekend. CSU-Pueblo leads the RMAC and ranks 22nd in D-II in field goal percentage.
4. Sydni Williams (So., Little Rock, Ark.)made a team-best 61.1 percent of her shots over the opening weekend. Williams ranks fourth in the RMAC in field goal percentage. She stands fourth in free throw percentage after making 7-of-8 from the stripe in week one. She averaged 14.5 points per game.
5. Lauren Heyn (Sr., Penryn, Calif.) sank 9-of-10 at the free throw line in her first two games. She ranks second in the RMAC in free throw percentage. Heyn averaged 13.5 points per game over the weekend, making her one of four Pack student-athletes averaging double figures. Khiya Adams (Jr., Falcon, Colo.) averaged 11.5 points per game in her first two contests of the year.
Records Watch:
- With seven rebounds in the opening weekend, Heyn moved into the top 10 all-time at CSU-Pueblo. She now has 556 career rebounds, passing Timmi-Jo Miller for 10th place. With five rebounds, Heyn will vault past Jackie Borgstedt for ninth all-time at CSU-Pueblo.
Scouting Montana Western:
- Montana Western is 3-0 this season. The Bulldogs finished 27-9 in 2017-18. They advanced to the NAIA National Semifinals last season.
- The Bulldogs are led by the scoring duo of Savanna Bignell and Brianna King. Bignell has averaged 15.7 points per game so far this season. King has averaged 15.0 points per game and has 4.0 assists per game.
- Like the Pack, the Bulldogs have shot well so far this season. They have made 49.0 percent from the field and 41.5 percent from downtown.
