ST. GEORGE, Utah (February 7, 2016) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo softball team dropped two games Sunday on the final day of the Dixie State Tournament. The Pack dropped a 4-1 decision in a rematch with No. 13 Humboldt State before falling 9-1 in the finale against No. 2 Dixie State.
In game one the Lumberjacks plated three runs in the top of the first for an early lead. The Pack responded with a run in the bottom half.
Madison Wolfe (Sr., Oxnard, Calif.) made her first appearance in the circle, going the distance giving up four runs on eight hits and fanning six batters.
Wolfe and Moriah Turney (Jr., Brighton, Colo.) led the way offensively, collecting two hits apiece.
Four other Pack players managed one hit in the contest.
HSU starting pitcher Kalyn Pague kept the ThunderWolves in check, allowing four hits over the final four innings.
In the weekend finale against No. 2 Dixie State the Red Storm erupted with six runs in the first at bat, capitalizing on three Pack errors in the frame.
CSU-Pueblo scored the only run of the game in the second inning on a sac flyout.
Turney finished the weekend going 7-for-13 (.538 avg.) with two doubles and two runs scored.
CSU-Pueblo (0-5) will seek its first win next week as they travel to Canyon, Texas to participate in the West Texas A&M Invitational.
