ST. GEORGE, Utah (February 5, 2016) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo softball team dropped a pair of nonconference games Friday at the Dixie State Tournament, falling 10-0 versus West Texas A&M in game one before getting shutout 9-0 in the nightcap against Humboldt State.
In the season opener, the Lady Buffs took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning capitalizing on a Pack fielding error.

Following a scoreless second, West Texas' scoring barrage began in the top of the third inning with two leadoff walks followed by a single to center field loaded the bases.
A sacrafice fly plated the second run of the game with only one out.

Another walk issued by the ThunderWolves resulted in a two-run triple from WTAMU, building the lead to 6-0.
The next West Texas batter singled to right centerfield adding to their lead.
In her CSU-Pueblo debut starting pitcher Hope Davalos (R-Fr., Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) tossed 2 2/3 innings, allowing seven runs on four hits and striking out three batters.

Moriah Turney (Jr., Brighton, Colo.) led the Pack offensively going 2-for-2 in the contest.
In the nightcap against No. 13 Humboldt State, CSU-Pueblo was unable to connect any solid contact at the plate as the Lumberjacks starting pitcher Madison Williams tossed a no-hitter, allowing one walk against the ThunderWolves in the five inning affair.
