SPEARFISH, S.D. (February 26, 2016) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo softball team dropped a pair of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference games Friday. The Pack fell 5-2 in the series opener before falling 8-0 in five innings in the nightcap.
In game one CSU-Pueblo managed four hits in the contest, scoring their only runs of the ballgame in the first inning on a two-run double by Madison Wolfe (Sr., Oxnard, Calif.).
The 2-3-4 hitters for the Pack provided each of the four hits.
Cruising through three innings and holding the two run lead, ThunderWolves' starting pitcher Hope Davalos (R-Fr., Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) surrendered three runs in the bottom of the fourth including a two-run shot by Kelsea Nash to give the Yellow Jackets a 3-2 lead.
BHSU added a run in each of the next two innings building a 5-2 advantage.
In the top of the seventh, following a leadoff single and an error by the home team, CSU-Pueblo brought the tying run to the plate but was unable to plate any runs, ending the game 5-2.
Davalos was tabbed with the loss, falling to 4-4 on the season.
In game two, the home team took a 3-0 lead in the first inning on a three-run shot by Jo-Jo Curry.
CSU-Pueblo collected five hits in the game with five Pack players gathering a hit.
Pack starting pitcher Shannon Lieber (Jr., Lone Tree, Colo.) tossed four innings, allowing seven runs on nine hits in the loss.
CSU-Pueblo (3-14, 2-4 RMAC) returns to the field Saturday to conclude the series. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
