ThunderWolves shutout Colorado Mesa 2-0 for seventh straight win

PUEBLO, Colo. (October 21, 2016) – The Colorado State University-Pueblo women's soccer team tied a program record for wins in a row, seven games, Friday following a 2-0 win over Colorado Mesa University at the Art & Lorraine Gonzales Soccer Stadium.

The ThunderWolves tied the record of seven consecutive wins dating back to the 2007 season. That year the Pack won seven in a row from Sept. 28 thru Oct. 19.

On Parent's Night at the pitch, CSU-Pueblo used two first-half goals to get past CMU.

Danelle Dondelinger (Jr., Louisville, Colo.) netted her first score of the season and first of the game in the 24th minute following a scramble on the right side of the box. Rianna Lockhart (R-So., Colorado Springs, Colo.) earned the assist on the play, toe-tapping the ball ahead to Dondelinger.

CSU-Pueblo added a second goal four minutes later off the foot of Laikyn Koss (Sr., Riverside, Calif.), her team leading seventh goal of the season. Karley Whiteman (So., Alta Loma, Calif.) was credited with the dime on the play.

The Pack defense buckled down the rest of the way, allowing the Mavericks only two shots in the first period followed by just one shot attempt in the second half.

Sandra Grimaldo (Sr., Mammoth Lakes, Calif.) led the Pack attack with four shots in the game.

CSU-Pueblo goalkeeper Alison Darr (Sr., Placerville, Calif.) made two saves picking up the win at the net.

Prior to the game, Pack head coach Paul Regrutto, his coaching staff and players celebrated the parents and family supporters in attendance at tonight's game with a rose flower.

CSU-Pueblo (10-3, 7-2 RMAC) returns to the pitch Sunday for an RMAC battle versus Westminster (UT) to close out the home portion of the regular season.

The game features a pregame ceremony to honor nine departing seniors playing in their final regular season home games as members of the Pack. Kickoff against the Griffins is set for 12 p.m. at Gonzales Stadium.
