Anderson's 23 launches Pack past Highlands, 71-56.

PUEBLO, Colo . (January 8, 2016) – The Colorado State University-Pueblo women's basketball team opened its four-game homestand with a 71-56 win over New Mexico Highlands University. With a win over their Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponent, the Pack now sit 12-2 (7-1 RMAC) this season. 

CSU-Pueblo outrebounded Highlands 46-29. The Pack also had seven blocks, five of which came from Molly Rohrer (Greenwood Village, Colo.).

Tuileisu Anderson (So., Vancouver, Wash.) unleashed a 23-point scoring barrage that helped the Pack claim their second win of the season over the Cowgirls. The 23-points set a new career-high for Anderson.

The Pack began the game on a 6-0 run that forced Highlands to call a timeout at the 7:18 mark of the first. CSU-Pueblo rode that run to a 20-16 lead after one.

Dee Arrieta (Sr., Pueblo West, Colo.) drained a pair of 3-pointers in the opening quarter. Lauren Heyn (Fr. Loomis, Calif.) hit a three of her own and swatted a Cowgirl shot. Heyn finished with 11 points, seven rebounds and two blocks.

CSU-Pueblo added to its lead as it began the second quarter with a 10-3 run over the three and a half minutes. Anderson scored five points in this run. She had 10 total in the first half as she helped the Pack carry a 41-29 lead into intermission.

Arrieta potted another 3-pointer in this 10-3 stretch as well. The senior made 3-of-4 from downtown in the first half.

Heyn had nine points in the first half on 4-of-5 shooting from the field. Fellow freshman, Rohrer, scored eight points and rejected three Highlands attempts in the opening half.  

In the third quarter the Pack came out on fire with a 15-4 run that lasted for the first eight minutes of the frame. And built the Pack's lead to 23. Highlands closed the quarter on an eight-point run, six of which came at the line, that allowed them to climb back within 15, but the Pack still led 56-41 at the break.

Rohrer collected another block and four more points in the third. Mariana Lambert (Sr., Jundiai, Brazil) also scored four points in the Pack's 15-4 run.

Anderson sparked the Pack in the fourth, scoring the team's first eight points in the final frame. The fifth leading scorer in the RMAC entering play, Anderson scored 10 of her 23 in the fourth, as the ThunderWolves closed out a 71-56 win.

The Pack will wrap up their season series with Western New Mexico University Saturday at Massari Arena. Saturday's tilt with the Mustangs will begin at 5:30 p.m.
