Pack falter at Highlands

LAS VEGAS, N.M. (September 30, 2015) – In a rare midweek Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup, the Colorado State University-Pueblo women's soccer team fell 3-2 against New Mexico Highlands University Wednesday at Messina Field.

Playing in the first road game of the season, the ThunderWolves started sluggish on both sides of the ball, allowing two goals in the opening five minutes of the game.

The Pack found the leg energy needed following the hot start from the Cowgirls, holding Highlands scoreless the remainder of the half.

Through the first half CSU-Pueblo trailed 10-9 in shots while holding a 2-1 corner kicks advantage.

Amanda Jorgensen (Sr., F, Wailuku, Hawai'i) played one of her better offensive games, getting the Pack on the scoreboard in the 56th minute, cutting into the Cowgirl lead.

Shae McNutt (Jr., F, League City, Tex.) was credited with an assist.

The Cowgirls extended the lead 3-1 on the third goal of the game scored by Mallory Bostic. She led the game with eight shots.

Jorgensen connected her second goal of the game in the 88th minute but with little time remaining in the game.

The late Pack rally fell short, dropping the game 3-2.

For the game the CSU-Pueblo led both statistical categories, having a 20-16 shots advantage and a 7-2 lead in corner kicks.

Pack Goalkeeper Alison Darr (Jr., Placerville, Calif.) made four saves at the net on sixteen Cowgirl shots.

CSU-Pueblo (4-4-0, 2-3-0 RMAC) will remain on the road Friday with an RMAC game at No. 16 Colorado School of Mines.
