Winning streak halted at eight in 83-60 loss at No. 14 MSU Denver

DENVER (February 27, 2015) – The Colorado State University-Pueblo men's basketball team's eight-game win streak, the longest since 1997-98, was snapped at the hands of No. 14 Metropolitan State University at Denver Friday in an 83-60 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference road loss.

Despite the loss, the ThunderWolves (19-8, 15-6 RMAC) remained a game up in fourth in the RMAC standings, as both Colorado Mesa Unviersity (19-8, 14-7 RMAC) and Fort Lewis College (19-8, 14-7 RMAC) lost Friday. Those two teams play each other Saturday, while the Pack close out the regular season at Regis University (5-20, 3-18 RMAC). A win Saturday would secure a home playoff game for the ThunderWolves in the first round of the RMAC Shootout.

The ThunderWolves shot just 37.3 percent from the field and 34.8 perfect from long range, while the Roadrunners hit on 51.7 percent from the field, 53.8 from downtown.

CSU-Pueblo was guided by 17 points from senior Jed Knafelc (G, Highlands Ranch, Colo.). He shot 5-of-10 from the field and 4-for-8 from 3-point range. Senior Bronson Moton (C, Denver, Colo.) added 11 points.

The Pack scored the first five points of the game and led through the first three minutes, 7-6. The game was tied 11-11 with 15:36 showing on the clock, but an 11-2 run by the home team during the next 8:35 of game time gave MSU Denver a 22-13 lead.

The Roadrunner advantage hit double figures for the first time at 27-16 with 4:29 left and was a half-high 14 points at the break, 37-23.

The ThunderWolves failed to find a comeback and trailed by as many as 30 before the deficit settled at 23.
