CANYON, Tex. (February 14, 2015) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo softball team dropped a pair of games Saturday on day two of the West Texas A&M Invite, falling to Cameron University (OK) 16-10 in game one, followed with an 8-1 loss to Midwestern State (TX) in game two.
In game one the Pack jumped on Cameron starting pitcher Kelsey Watson, scoring eight runs in the first two innings, taking an early 8-1 lead.
The Aggies slowly cut into the lead, scoring eleven runs in the top half of the third through fifth innings combined to take a 12-9 lead through five innings.
Pack starting pitcher Madison Wolfe (Jr., Oxnard, Calif.) lasted just three innings, giving up seven runs on eleven hits.
Timely hitting by Cameron along with three Pack errors in three inning proved to be the difference in the game.
In game two versus Midwestern State, CSU-Pueblo offense remained silent, managing only one run on six hits in the game.
The Pack scored its lone run as a result of a Mustang defensive error.
Kelli Henry (Sr., P, Monument, Colo.) was tabbed with the loss, allowing seven runs on nine hits and three walks in the game.
CSU-Pueblo (4-6) will wrap up the weekend Sunday with games scheduled versus Tarleton State (TX) and No. 1-ranked and defending national champion West Texas A&M.
