Box Score

PUEBLO, Colo. (November 13 ,2015) The Colorado State University-Pueblo women's basketball team had their regular season debut spoiled in their first game in the 32nd Annual CSU-Pueblo Al Kaly Shrine Classic.  After an undefeated exhibition season, the Pack could carry their momentum to their regular season debut, falling to No. 23 Lubbock Christian University 68-43.

Cold shooting kept the Pack from finding a groove offensively. CSU-Pueblo went 17-for-65(26.2 percent) from the field. The Lady Chaps shot 50 percent for the night.

The ThunderWolves went ice cold at the charity stripe as well, They  finished the night 5-for-16  (31.3 percent) from the free throw line compared to an 84.2 percent success rate for Lubbock Christian.

Early in the first quarter, a lid appeared to be on the home basket. The Pack struggled to find a rhythm in the first quarter shooting 3-for-16 from the field. CSU-Pueblo also went 1-for-8 from the free throw line. The Pack's seven misses from the line in the first quarter were more than the six they missed in the entire exhibition season (28-for34).

However, CSU-Pueblo hung with the Lady Chaps. Each of three shots the Pack sank in the first period were 3-pointers. The ThunderWolves also forced eight turnovers to stay within four points after the first frame, 14-10.

The Pack came out fired up in the second quarter. CSU-Pueblo rattled off six straight points to take a 16-14 lead. However, Lubbock Christian responded with a 9-0 run to make it 23-16. They would eventually take a 30-20 lead into halftime thanks to their 26-13 rebounding advantage at the break.

Molly Rohrer (Fr., Greenwood Village, Colo.) led the Pack with eight points in the second quarter. Rohrer finished with 10 points in her first collegiate game and chipped in CSU-Pueblo's only block. Dee Arrieta (Sr., Pueblo West, Colo.) had the Pack's only other bucket in the quarter.

Lubbock Christian continued to pull away in the third. The Lady Chapparals outscored CSU-Pueblo 21-13 in the third frame, shooting 8-for-13 from the field. They would add to their lead in the final quarter to secure a 68-43 win.

Tuileisu Anderson (So., Vancouver, Wash) led the Pack with 12 points.  As a team CSU-Pueblo forced 23 turnovers. Ashley Piper (Sr., Cedar Rapids) posted a team-best four steals.

The Pack will try to get back on track Saturday Nov.14 when they play their second and final game in the 32nd annual CSU-Pueblo Al Kaly Shrine Classic. They will challenge Texas A&M Commerce (1-0) at 7:30 p.m. inside Massari Arena. Tickets will be available at the Massari Arena box office beginning at 4:00 p.m.
