CSU-Pueblo ends season with 2-2 draw at MSU Denver

DENVER, Colo. (November 1, 2015) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo women's soccer season came to an end Sunday following a 2-2 decision in double overtime at MSU Denver. Brianna Garcia (R-Fr., F, Rio Rancho, N.M.) scored two goals for the Pack.

The ThunderWolves were eliminated from clinching a postseason berth with Regis falling to New Mexico Highlands in other Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action.

MSU Denver broke the scoreless game in the sixth minute for a 1-0 lead.

The Roadrunners added a second goal in the 25th minute.

At the half, both teams fired six shots each with MSU Denver holding a 4-2 shot on goal advantage.

Amanda Jorgensen (Sr., F, Wailuku, Hawai'i) and Jessica Barton (Jr., Mid., Surprise, Ariz.) each led the way with two shots at the net in the half.

Entering the second half the ThunderWolves' energy was lifted, allowing the offense with quality chances at the net.

CSU-Pueblo fired ten shots in the half led by Garcia's four.

The Pack offense converted in the 69th minute as Sandra Grimaldo (Jr., F, Mammoth Lakes, Calif.) fed a cross pass to Garcia inside the box, striking the net.

Down one with twenty minutes left in regulation, the ThunderWovles kept possession in Roadrunners territory creating opportunities at the net.

Garcia netted the equalizer with under two minutes showing on the clock, her second on the day and season.

The ThunderWolves played strong in extra time, managing six shots to MSU Denver's two in the two overtime periods.

CSU-Pueblo (8-7-3, 4-5-2 RMAC) concludes its season with its first winning record since 2008. Jorgensen led the Pack with six goals on the year, while Grimaldo led with three assists.

Pack goalkeepers recorded seventy-seven saves combined, led by Alison Darr (Jr., Placerville, Calif.) with 51 saves.
