ThunderWolves move to No. 2 in AFCA national rankings

WACO, Texas (Sept. 8, 2014) – With a decisive 35-6 victory versus then-No. 11 West Texas A&M University Sept. 4 and loss by the nation's preseason No. 2, the Colorado State University-Pueblo football team has moved into the No. 2 spot in the American Football Coaches Association NCAA Division II national poll.

The ThunderWolves entered week one as the preseason No. 4, but a double overtime loss by then-No. 2 Grand Valley State Unviersity has moved CSU-Pueblo closer to the top spot. Northwest Missouri State University still held on to the No. 1 ranking, while University of Minnesota Duluth, Minnesota State University, Mankato, and University of North Alabama are the No. 3-5, respectfully.

CSU-Pueblo is the lone top 25 team in the coaches poll, while Colorado School of Mines and Chadron State University are receiving votes.

The Pack (1-0, 0-0 RMAC) will battle NCAA Division I Sam Houston State University (1-2, 0-0 Southland) Sept. 14 in a road test versus the No. 15 team in the most recent FCS Coaches' Poll. The game will pit SHSU's FCS-best active 23-game home winning streak versus CSU-Pueblo's 38-straight regular season victories. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. (MT).
