COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com – Feb. 8, 2014) – The University of Colorado-Colorado Springs Mountain Lion women's basketball team shot 56.2 percent (27-48) from the field and snapped CSU-Pueblo's 4-game winning streak, posting a 67-57 win over the ThunderWolves in the second annual Downtown Classic on Saturday in the Colorado Springs City Auditorium.
The ThunderWolves, were led by 20 points from Taylor Fox (Sr., Santa Cruz, Calif.). CSU-Pueblo is now 16-6 overall and 13-3 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play, still good for a solid second place positioning in the 14-team league.
UCCS improved to 8-12 overall and to 7-9 in the RMAC with three weekends remaining in the regular season. The Mountain Lions currently hold the eighth and final RMAC Tournament qualifying position.
"I didn't think we played bad. We played hard. They just made more shots," Pack coach Kip Drown said in a post-game radio interview.
"You tip your had when people step up and make plays. They played well and just made more plays that we did."
