Pack reach 20-win mark behind 22 Evans points, Fox double-double

CHADRON, Neb. (GoThunderWolves.com – Feb. 22, 2014) – Thanks in large part to 22 points from Alex Evans (Sr., Louisville, Colo.) and a second straight double-double from Taylor Fox (Sr., Santa Cruz, Calif.) , the Colorado State University-Pueblo women's basketball earned its 20th win of the season, 80-64 at Chadron State College on Saturday night in the Eagles' Armstrong Gymnasium.

Now 20-6 overall and 17-3 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play, the ThunderWolves have now won four straight and have reached the 20-win total for the fifth time in the last seven years.

Chadron State, held to 34.8 percent (24-69) shooting, fell to 4-21 overall and to 4-17 in the loop despite a game-high 24 points from Kattie Ranta, who scored 24 to reach 1,000 for her career.

The ThunderWolves used a 9-0 run over 2 ½ minutes of the middle portion of the first half to build a 19-9 lead with 10:57 to go in the first half and never looked back, building as much as 16-point lead in the first half.  Going into the break up 15 (46-31), the ThunderWolves never let up and led by 20 with 10 minutes to go before cruising to the win.

As a team, the ThunderWolves shot a solid 50.0 percent (29-58) from the field.

Evans was a big part of that as she went 10-for-13 from the field.  Fox finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds while Katie Nehf (Jr., Broomfield, Colo.) also had a solid game, scoring 13 points.  She also had seven rebounds, four assists, three steals and a pair of blocked shots.

The ThunderWolves have now finished the regular season with a 9-3 road record and will return home for at least their next three, starting Friday (Feb. 28) against Metro State.  They also play Regis on Saturday, Mar. 1 and will host a RMAC Shootout quarterfinal against the seventh seed on Tuesday, Mar. 4.   CSU-Pueblo is 10-1 at home in Massari Arena so far this season.
