The Colorado State University-Pueblo ThunderWolves men's basketball team took a 51-41 lead with a little less than 10 minutes left in the game following a 3 pointer by Matt Rosenbaum (Sr. Sidney, Neb.)
Then they went ice cold for the rest of regulation, only making one field goal in the next eight minutes, watching their 10-point lead turn into a point 71-62 defeat to the Colorado Christian Cougars.
"I thought that we had some careless turnovers and some poor decisions and we just got some habits that are showing up in games that we got to correct in practice," head coach Ralph Turner said. "I thought the kids' energy was great, they really played hard, we just weren't very efficient offensively."
The ThunderWolves were playing without guard Dylan Fritsch (Sr. Albiquerque, N.M.), one of the ThunderWolves' best three point shooters. The ThunderWolves would finish the night 8-for-24 shooting from 3 point range.
"I'm not saying it's Dylan as so much as our whole team offensive," Turner said. "I'd say were in a pretty severe shooting slump, but I'd say that I think there's a lot of little things, practice habits, that I really like, and we're getting better."
Next up for the men's basketball team, the will play the Colorado School of Mines on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the Massari Arena.
"We better get pretty serious about playing defense, rebounding and maybe being able to score a few buckets more than we've scored tonight," Turner said.
