ThunderWolves end regular season on high note, draws Fort Lewis

DENVER, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - March 2, 2013) - CSU-Pueblo scored a 69-58 win over Regis to close out the regular season, setting up a playoff quarterfinal showdown at Fort Lewis.

CSU-Pueblo overcame a slow first half to cruise in the second and overtake Regis.  

The ThunderWolves struggled from the field in the first half, only hitting 23 percent of its shots as it went into the break trailing 29-22.  The Pack ended the half with a 5-0 surge after being down by as much as 29-17, setting the stage for a momentum-shifting second half.

In the second half, the Pack scored the first 10 points, completing a 15-0 run in total combined with the first half, as it went up 32-29.  The ThunderWolves finally hit shots after an ice-cold streak that had lasted several games, never giving up its lead throughout.  The Pack shot a very solid 53.6 percent from the field, going 8-for-14 on threes, as the Pack had its best half shooting the basketball in weeks.

The win gives the Pack an 18-8 regular season and a 15-7 RMAC record, finishing 5th in the RMAC standings.  CSU-Pueblo will travel to Fort Lewis (17-9, 16-6 RMAC) Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. for an RMAC quarterfinal game.
