Pack ends regular season hot, gets first-round home game

DENVER, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - March 2, 2013) - CSU-Pueblo ended its regular season with an 85-68 win over Regis, and thanks to a loss by Colorado Mesa Saturday, won the tiebreaker to finish in fourth place and win the right to host an RMAC quarterfinal game Tuesday.

CSU-Pueblo overcame an early disadvantage to take the game over in the first half and never look back.  Regis went up by as much as 21-13 early before the Pack caught fire.  The Pack responded with an amazing 25-0 run that included four three-pointers and six points each from Ryan Arel (Sr., Shawnee, Kan.), J.J. Mina (Jr., Elk Grove, Calif.) and Matt Rosenbaum (Jr.,. Sidney, Neb.) as the ThunderWolves went up 37-21.

From there, Regis could not get close as the Pack took a 49-36 lead into halftime and didn't relent throughout.  By game's end, the Pack had shot 58.3 percent from the field, sinking ten threes and getting 15-plus point games from three ThunderWolves.  Rosenbaum led the Pack with 20 while Arel had 19 and Arden Dennis (Sr., Denver, Colo.) had 16 points.

CSU-Pueblo will take on Colorado Mesa in the opening round of the RMAC Tournament Tuesday night at Massari Arena.  The Pack's home game - its first home playoff game since March 4, 1995 - will tip off at 7 p.m. Tuesday night at CSU-Pueblo.
