PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Jan. 13, 2013) - CSU-Pueblo fell flat Friday as it tried to extend its win streak to three games facing Colorado Mesa, falling 78-61 to the Mavericks.
CSU-Pueblo led for a grand total of 12 seconds as the game got away from them early.
The brutal stretch came at the close of the second half, as Mesa embarked on a 20-2 run to go up 37-22 at halftime, then scoring nine of the second half's first 13 points to up 48-26 and force the Pack to largely go through the motions.
The ThunderWolves would threaten, climbing back to the verge of a single-digit deficit, but, as they trailed 58-48 with 7:28 remaining, Mesa promptly went on an 8-0 run to undo any Pack threat.
One of the big reasons for the Pack's struggles were its shooting and shot selection. CSU-Pueblo shot just 30.8 percent on the night and put up 34 three-pointers, which accounted for more than half of its shot attempts, only sinking eight (or 23.5 percent).
CSU-Pueblo falls to 4-10 with the loss, and will look to get back to winning wasy Saturday when it hosts Western State.
