Midnight Madness at the ThunderBowl

In what has become an annual rite-of-passage, the CSU-Pueblo Football Team takes part in its first official team activity of Fall Camp, a midnight spring conditioning drill, at 12:01 a.m. (the first admissible minute for NCAA Division II teams to begin team workouts).

When the program was resurrected in 2008, the drills began as a practice to separate the men from the boys, and seemingly, a fairly high percentage of players couldn't run the sprints in the required time.  Some quit the team on the spot while others ended up on all fours on the ThunderBowl turf in agony.

Today, nearly everybody passes, and the conditioning test is quite uneventful as the physical condition of the team members has improved dramatically over the years.  It has grown to become one of the team's best training traditions and an outstanding team-building exercise.
