Pack drops two at Adams State.

ALAMOSA, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - April 18, 2012) - With six games remaining and six teams still in the running for an RMAC title, the last thing the first-place ThunderWolves needed was a doubleheader sweep at the hands of Adams State Wednesday.

However, that worst case scenario played out as CSU-Pueblo lost a pair by scores of 3-1 and 13-2.

The losses dropped the ThunderWolves all the way from first to third place in the tightly-packed RMAC standings.  Colorado Christian and Colorado Mines now occupy first place, both a half-game ahead of CSU-Pueblo.

CSU-Pueblo, which entered Wednesday's games as the 10th-best hitting team in the country, saw its offensive production fall off the map.  The ThunderWolves recorded eight hits but left 10 runners stranded in the 3-1 loss in the early game, and followed it up with just six hits in the late game.

Adams State, to its credit, left just seven runners on base total throughout the two games.

CSU-Pueblo, now at 22-13 on the season, will return home for a four-game series with Western New Mexico, who despite being in second-to-last place in the RMAC, has not been an easy out for the ThunderWolves in recent years, having won eight of its past 13 meetings with the Pack.
