PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com Feb. 25, 2012) - Not every win comes easy and the CSU-Pueblo women's basketball team learned that Saturday night. After trailing for a majority of the game, the Pack was able to defeat Colorado Christian 54-49 behind a second half surge.

The Pack saw themselves down by as many as 12 points in the second half before finally chipping away at the lead set by a gritty Cougar team. In fact, the Pack didn't get their first lead until 2:39 on a driving layup by Erica Hicks (Jr., Lakewood, Colo.), which headlined a 15-3 run that handed the lead back to the Pack.

After taking the lead, the ThunderWolves wouldn't give it up again, forcing a Cougar turnover on the next posession, leading to another layup by Taylor Fox (So., Santa Cruz, Calif.).

The Cougars would cut the game to one on a deep 3-pointer from Bre McBeth but Hicks and Kendall Babler (Sr., Rifle, Colo.) both hit their free throws to seal the game.

Laurel Kearsley (Jr., Victor, Idaho) collected her eighth double-double of the season finishing with 12 points and 15 rebounds. Paige Ramm (So., Prescott Ariz.) added nine points in a reserve role, highlighted by a three point play that sparked the comeback for the Pack during the 15-3 run.

Defensively, the Pack was able to hold one of the conference's top scorers, Christina Whitelaw, to 12 points. Stephanie Allen finished with a double-double for the Cougars with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

CSU-Pueblo will enter the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference shootout as the number-three seed with a quarterfinal game set for Tuesday at 7 p.m. with a repeat showdown against Colorado Christian.  For more information, visit http://www.gothunderwolves.com/sports/wbkb/2011-12/releases/201202252lhml4.
