ThunderWolves get back to winning ways by upending Adams State.
PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Feb. 11, 2012) - In an otherwise forgettable offensive performance for the CSU-Pueblo women's basketball team, the Pack was able to out-duel conference foe Adams State winning 55-47 Saturday night.
The Pack relied heavily on Laurel Kearsley (Jr., Victor, Idaho) who poured in a career-high 22 points and added 13 rebounds to record her fifth career double-double. Kearsley was impressive throughout the game as she showed off her full offensive arsenal to the visiting Grizzlies.
The Pack never trailed in the game and was able to stretch out a four-point halftime lead to 13 points midway through the second half.
The Grizzlies, led by Marissa Peterson, who scored 11 points and recorded nine rebounds, rallied to cut the game to eight points late in the game but solid free throw shooting kept the Grizzlies from ever seriously threatening.
Kendall Babler (Sr., Rifle, Colo.) chipped in 11 points, doing most of her damage from the free throw line.
The Pack now has won 13 straight over the Grizzlies at Massari Arena, a streak that dates back to 1999. The win also improves the Pack to an overall record of 18-4 and 15-3 RMAC play.
The ThunderWolves, now at 18-4 on the season, will play two games on the road next week before returning home for the final home dates of the 2011-12 regular season. The Pack opens up its road trip Friday at Nebraska-Kearney. Tip off scheduled for 5 p.m.
