CSU-Pueblo makes quick work of winless Western New Mexico.
SILVER CITY, N.M. (GoThunderWolves.com - Jan. 28, 2012) - CSU-Pueblo won its fifth straight and 12th in the last 13 games Saturday, taking down winless Western New Mexico 78-47.
It also marked the 400th career win for CSU-Pueblo head coach Kip Drown.
The ThunderWolves dominated the entire game, save for the opening few minutes, when Western New Mexico actually went up 7-2 on the Pack before the ThunderWolves finally settled in. After the Mustangs took a 12-11 lead, CSU-Pueblo kicked it into high gear, going on an 11-1 run and never trailing throughout.
CSU-Pueblo got another standout day from Kendall Babler (Sr., Rifle, Colo.), who followed up her 31-point game against New Mexico Highlands a night ago with a game-high 17 points, including four three-pointers, three assists and three steals.
Laurel Kearsley (Jr., Victor, Idaho) had a monster game both offensively and defensively, going for a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Paige Ramm (So., Prescott, Ariz.), earning the start Saturday, scored 13 points while Taylor Fox (So., Santa Cruz, Calif.) again hit double-digits off the bench, scoring 14 points.
With the win, CSU-Pueblo, now 16-3, has officially matched its 2010-11 win total though there are still seven games remaining on the regular season schedule.
The ThunderWolves will conclude its road trip next weekend when it takes on UC-Colorado Springs next Saturday before returning home Feb. 10 and 11.
