Fourth-ranked Skyhawks turn away Pack

Pack fades late as competitive game turns for Skyhawks.

DURANGO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Feb. 11, 2011) - CSU-Pueblo had trouble keeping up with one of the top teams in the country, let alone the RMAC Friday night, falling 87-73 to fourth-ranked Fort Lewis Friday.

In a game that was much closer than the final score indicated, CSU-Pueblo was only able to hold a lead for a two-minute span in the first half, and stayed close until Fort Lewis used a surge to bring a 41-32 lead into halftime.

Fort Lewis took it from there, building a double-digit lead that it would hold for most of the second half, save for a run by the ThunderWolves midway through the half that would see the Pack get as close as five.  But eventually, Fort Lewis ran their total up to 87 points as it bested the Pack for the second time this season.

Rachel Espinoza (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) led ThunderWolves scorers with 19 points, good enough to raise her to third all-time on the CSU-Pueblo all-time scoring list.  She was one of four ThunderWolves to score in double-digits.

CSU-Pueblo, now 13-8 overall, will try to salvage its weekend when it takes on Adams State in Alamosa Saturday night.
