Pack will open playoffs at Adams State Tuesday.
LAS VEGAS, N.M. (GoThunderWolves.com - Nov. 5, 2011) - The ThunderWolves closed its regular season Saturday with a four-set win over New Mexico Highlands Saturday, now setting its sights on the playoffs.
CSU-Pueblo, after the 25-19, 16-25, 25-20, 25-23 win, will draw Adams State in the RMAC Quarterfinals Tuesday night at 7 p.m. CSU-Pueblo is the RMAC Western Division's three-seed while Adams State is the two-seed.
Aside from a down second set, CSU-Pueblo was in control throughout the entire match, seemingly always leading by a safe margin. The match-clinching set lent excitement to the closing minutes as CSU-Pueblo nearly saw a tenuous 23-21 lead disappear as Highlands tied the match at 23-23. But senior leadership saved the day as Alea Wildman (Sr., Denver, Colo.) took over and delivered back-to-back kills to secure the win.
The ThunderWolves were led by Wildman, who had a match-high 15 kills, and Bernadette Pitre (Sr., Clifton, Colo.), who added 13 kills.
The ThunderWolves return home for a breather before hitting the road Tuesday to face the Grizzlies in the program's first playoff game since 2006.
