PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com – Oct. 14, 2011) – The CSU-Pueblo women's soccer team dropped a heartbreaking game Friday night, falling short to Metro State 2-1 in overtime. The Pack played a tough game against the number-three team in the conference and a team that is continually featured in the top-25 national poll. 

The Roadrunners struck first on a cross from Allyn Parrino that was finished by Karisa Price. Being down one goal didn't deter the team, it seemed to make them stronger battling with the Roadrunners neck and neck through the first half.

After the break the Pack, led by Alicia Irwin (So. North Richland Hills, Tex.) began to bring pressure to Metro State. Irwin helped the Pack get on the board just one minute into the half with a deep shot. The shot seemed to fool the goalkeeper, Danielle Quigley, as it bent in over her for the goal.

The teams traded chances in the second half but the best chance for the win came at the foot of the ThunderWolves. Irwin again showing her tremendous range fired a deep free kick with under a minute that hit the crossbar. 

Metro State would take advantage of the near miss in overtime. Michael' Ann Karas bending shot was enough to propel the Roadrunners to the win. 

CSU-Pueblo will have a chance to finish the weekend off with a win when the team hosts Colorado Mesa. Kick off is for 2:30 p.m. at the Rawlings Soccer Complex
