Pack comes out flat, loses to UCCS

First half 20-1 run lifts Mountain Lions.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Jan. 3, 2011) - The ThunderWolves were flat and unfocused in its first post-holiday action Monday, losing big to UCCS 77-56.

A 20-1 first half run by UCCS was all that was needed to down the ThunderWolves, who had won four straight coming into Monday's game.  After going down by 15 at the end of the Mountain Lions' explosion, the Pack wouldn't get any closer than eight, falling to 7-4 overall and a very average 4-3 in RMAC play.

The loss also deals CSU-Pueblo a blow in the "Steel and Silver" series, the all-sports competition between the two schools.  With each school receiving four victory points for winning the season series in each of the 10 sports the two schools share, UCCS ensured at least a split of the women's basketball points.  UCCS entered Monday with a 16-4 lead, and with its win, it is just five points away from clinching the Ent Federal Credit Union Trophy for the sixth straight year.  CSU-Pueblo has never won the Steel and Silver Series.

The ThunderWolves will return home this weekend when it hosts Mesa State and Western State in two more conference games.
