CHADRON, Neb. (GoThunderWolves.com - Sept. 18,
2010) - Needing to flush the results of their previous
losses to Colorado Mines and Nebraska-Kearney Thursday and Friday,
the ThunderWolves' volleyball team circled the wagons Saturday,
dominating Chadron State and cruising to a three-set sweep of the
Eagles.
In the Pack's win, middle blockers Ashley Wilkinson
(Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Bernadette Pitre (Jr., Clifton, Colo.) were absolutely
unstoppable. Both turned in identical numbers - ten kills, no
errors and a hit percentage of .714, which set school records for
highest hit percentage in a three-set match.
In the 25-14, 25-18, 25-20 win, the ThunderWolves turned in a
stellar team attack percentage of .361, the highest single match
hit percentage by a ThunderWolf team during coach Chris Jonson's
four-year tenure, and the highest mark turned by a Pack team since
the 2006 squad hung .420 on Chadron.
With the win, the Pack salvages a brutal opening weekend to the
RMAC schedule, where they were able to overcome losses to two of
the conference's top teams in Colorado Mines and Nebraska-Kearney
and knock off the Eagles. The Pack will get a much-needed
home stand, opening up against Mesa State Friday night before
getting Fort Lewis next Saturday.
