CSU-Pueblo 82, Western New Mexico 58
In a game that was supposed to be a close matchup against
potential playoff teams, the ThunderWolves put Western New Mexico
away, leading by as much as 30, putting an 82-58 hurt on Western
New Mexico Thursday.
The ThunderWolves roared out of the locker room and dominated
from the outset, beginning on a 10-0 run and not allowing a Western
New Mexico field goal until the 11:47 mark. By then, the Pack
was leading 18-5 and didn't look back.
Numerous Pack players had equal shares in the win as four
ThunderWolves scored in double digits. Daniel Pierce (Jr.,
Edgewood, N.M.) enjoyed a strong game, finishing one board
away from a double-double, logging 13 points and nine
assists. Chris Busch (Sr.,
Oakland, Calif.), who had been struggling as of late,
awoke to put up 12 points and six boards, sinking two
three-pointers.
And once the game was out of hand and the end of bench subbed
into the game, nobody impressed quite like Ty Trahern (So., Kit
Carson, Colo.). The 6-foot-2 Trahern came through
with two big dunks, including a pretty dunk on a feed from
Kris
Lawrie (Jr., Gardena, Calif.) that featured him
dangling from the rim for dramatic effect.
With the win, the ThunderWolves move back into fourth place in
the West Division standings, putting the Pack in control of the
division's final playoff spot. CSU-Pueblo will get an
eight-day vacation before returning to the hardwood Friday when
Adams State comes to town.
